At the beginning of October, we ran a brief story on Jungle.com's
new online system and the 'teething' problems they were having (amounting
to 25% or orders being late), it now seems that things aren't getting
any better (oh, and by the way, these cancellations are not
as a result of a - continuing - fault in their computer system)...
They have just cancelled 2,500 orders after acknowledging that
they can't deliver them before Christmas.
They are, however, still taking orders for Christmas delivery of
goods in stock until 20th December and their marketing director,
Mr. Andy Singleton, said:
"I think this is a sign that e-tailers are
growing up. Whereas before they would hang on to orders at any cost,
we're now acknowledging that we can't be sure of delivering these
products on time and giving them the chance to order different products
or go elsewhere."
