Following the announcement that the modernisation of the London-to-Glasgow line will delay the introduction of his £2 billion fleet of new high-speed trains, Sir Richard Branson is said to be furious about the disruption.

The fleet, which is the biggest investment in rolling stock since privatisation, has little chance of being introduced by the planned date of September 2002 and, as a result, plans to cut the journey time from London-to-Manchester to two hours have been delayed accordingly.

Misery for Sir Richard and Virgin and not a lot of joy for the Virgin passengers either. Have your say..
